Mission Statement
The mission of Stafford High School for the 2018-2019 school year is to prepare each student to become a critical thinker and an ethical, productive citizen through the application of 21st century teaching and learning strategies.

Mr. Root is a 1998 graduate of Stafford High School.  This year marks his 15th year as an educator and his first back in Stafford MSD.  He has previously served as a middle school principal and a high school associate principal, assistant principal, teacher, and coach.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master’s degree from Lamar University in Beaumont.  He enjoys spending time with his family, juggling their hectic schedule, and the Texas Longhorns.  His wife of 12 years is a former SMSD Secondary Teacher of the Year, and they have two children.

Mr. Garcia is in his 15th year as an educator.  He has served 11 years as a secondary math teacher in Fort Bend ISD and 4 years as an assistant principal here at Stafford Middle School and Stafford High School. 

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and Master’s of Educational Administration Degree from Concordia University in Austin.  He enjoys sports, fishing, travelling, watching his daughters dance and spending time with family.   He is happily married to his wife of 12 years, Kristi Garcia, and they have 2 daughters, Alyssa, 12 years old and Brittany, 19 years old

Mrs. Vanison is beginning her 5th year in education as well as her 5th year at Stafford MSD. She began her career at Stafford Middle School serving as a Special Education Math Teacher and Department Chair and is honored to now call Stafford High School her new home.

She hails from Mobile, Alabama and is a graduate of Texas Southern University (Bachelor of Science) and The University of St. Thomas (Houston) (Master of Education).

Mrs. Vanison enjoys traveling, reading books and spending time with her family, which includes her husband, daughter and dog named Jax.

The 2018-2019 school year marks the start of Ms. Nordt’s 40th year as an educator.  She joined the SMSD family in August of 2012 as the Secondary Campus Principal where she has served proudly for the past three years.

She holds a Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Houston Baptist University.

She is excited to serve as SMSD’s first Director for the Stafford College and Career Center. The Stafford College and Career Center (SCCC) provides a variety of opportunities for students in college and career preparation.  The SCCC is a place where students will have an opportunity to experience a work related internship, earn college credit and/or industry certification or license while still completing state high school graduation requirements. In collaboration with the Administration and the academic counselors, SCCC will continue to build a comprehensive college-going culture for all students.


Mrs. Perkins is beginning her 11th year in secondary education and her first year in Stafford MSD. She is honored to serve as an Assistant principal at Stafford High School. Mrs. Perkins is a former Fine Arts Department Head and Dance Teacher and Director. 
She is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University- GEAUX Tigers! (Bachelor of Science), Houston Baptist University (Masters in Educational Administration), and a EdD student in Educational Leadership from University of Houston. 
Mrs. Perkins enjoys football, movies, cooking, and family time. A few of her favorite things are the beach, the color purple, and seafood. She is married to her husband Larry, they have two children, and a dog named Tiger. Her personal mission is to educate, inspire, and leave a legacy.
