"I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence."
 - Frederick Douglass

Welcome to Ms. Herbert’s English III and ESOL classroom. This is my fourth year at Stafford and 12th overall in education. I have been both a sports writer for the Houston Chronicle and a copy editor for RBI. My passion is writing, and my hope is to help my students become effective communicators through both the written word and speech.

My mission is to help my students find their voice and use it to help inspire, lift and encourage others. I strongly believe that any knowledge we acquire is not for our sole benefit but to help others also achieve.

We will write a lot as well as explore many types of literature while we simultaneously become avid readers.

We will discuss not only what happens in literature but how that applies to our lives.

We will respect each other, ourselves, the classroom and the art of learning.

We are in this together to become better beings and productive citizens.

I will learn from the students as much as they learn from me.

Should you have any questions or just want to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to e-mail me at nherbert@staffordmsd.org.
