English III

* Students read and understand a wide variety of literary and informational texts;

* Students compose a variety of written texts with a clear controlling idea, coherent organization, and sufficient detail;

* Students are expected to know how to locate a range of relevant sources and evaluate, synthesize, and present ideas and information;

* Students listen and respond to the ideas of others while contributing their own ideas in conversations and in groups; and

* Students learn how to use the oral and written conventions of the English language in speaking and writing.

Students will need:
  • A positive, CAN-DO attitude.
  • One 3-ring binder with notebook paper and
  • writing utensil(s) every day.

Students are expected to follow classroom procedures and norms (expectations/rules) at all times.

Norms include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Students take care of personal needs (restroom, grooming, eating, etc.) outside of classroom and outside of class time.


  • Students are NOT allowed to eat, drink, or chew gum in the classroom (unless required for medical reasons documented with School Nurse or Administrator, and Teacher.)


  • Students are responsible for taking care of all classroom items and supplies they are allowed/ instructed to use.


  • Students will be prepared, respectful, responsible, and productive.


  • Students will hold themselves and others to the highest standards of behavior and achievement.
